An artist instructor from the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half Day has been recognized by Connecticut Dance Alliance for her contributions to teaching and performing in the state of Connecticut! Core dance faculty Jeanne Giroir is the latest to be recipient of the “Distinguished Achievement Award.” Every year, the CDA acknowledges someone who has made outstanding contributions in teaching, performing, and promoting dance and who has had a profound effect on the Connecticut Dance scene.

Originally from Texas, Jeanne relocated to Connecticut where she performed in the Hartford Ballet. She has held principal roles in Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia and Carmina Burana, along with repertory works by Michael Uthoff, George Balanchine, Peter Martins, Doris Humphrey and Antony Tudor. She taught at the Hartford Conservatory, Hartt School, and is presently core faculty at the Academy Half Day.

Jeanne is the latest of Academy dance staff to have received this recognition from the CDA. Past years' recipients include Linda Burns and Jeanne’s husband Thomas Giroir.
