Project Transform

Five Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half Day students were among a group of youth performers who took the stage to advocate for change. A total of twelve young artists worked for seven weeks with Hartford Stage’s guest artist Nilaja Sun to write and perform an original piece about the changes they would like to see in the community/world. The students performed an original 30-minute theater piece incorporating monologues, song, and dance. It was part of an ongoing Hartford Stage program known as “Project Transform.”

There were a total of two performances. A musical theater major, three theater majors, and a theater design/production major were among the Academy students taking part. They were Samantha Acosta, Kiara Burgos-Santiago, Jordan Champ, Bairon Salgado-Cruz, and Soleil Walcott.
