Twenty four dancers and four faculty members from the dance department attended the National High School Dance Festival at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. The annual festival provides young dancers the opportunity to enjoy three full days of master classes, workshops, performances, and networking, as well as the chance to audition for prestigious college dance programs.

Ten of our juniors and seniors took part in the auditions and received over 70 acceptances to colleges and summer programs, including multiple scholarship offers! The Academy was incredibly honored to have two of our pieces accepted to be presented in the festival’s Gala Concerts. On Friday, Feb. 28th, we performed “Two Not Yet Together” from Alwin Nikolais’ Mechanical Organ staged by guest artist Alberto Del Saz of the Nikolaos/Louis Foundation. And on Feb. 29th we opened Saturday’s performance with “The Space Between” by alumni Kyle McHargh ’04. Both pieces were originally performed in October at Choreographers’ Showcase.
