The CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts HALF DAY program provides high school students from the capitol region and beyond an focused training in the arts. Students who attend choose a concentration from a variety of arts disciplines such as Theater, Visual Art, Music, Theater Design, Dance, and Musical Theater. All classes are taught by professional Artist Instructors.
We are the recipients of many awards including Best Arts Magnet School by the “Arts School Network” and School of Distinction from “Magnet Schools of America”

Admission Deadline Extended to August 15.
Registration to the Academy is done through the Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) and acceptance is done through lottery. Anybody is welcome to apply. The lottery will open December 1, 2020 and run until March 19, 2021. Tuition is covered by the state of Connecticut and transportation is provided by CREC.

2021 Season Now Open!
We have our 2021 Season now available. Opening on March 26th, we have a virtual performance of Choreographers’ Showcase, featuring the works of guest choreographers Leslie Frye Maietta, Brandon Collwes, Rennie Harris, and Larry Keigwin.
Starting April 19th, we are presenting “Twisted Tales of Poe” a streaming radio play presenting the works of Edgar Allen Poe. New episodes dropping
daily at 12:00 noon through April 22.
Come see our live outdoor performance of Jean Paul Sartre’s “No Exit” April 30 and May 1st.
