A theater major from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts’  had recently gained recognition for an original piece of work. Eric Murphy, a half day Academy senior from Avon, has had his original work “Civil Procedure” accepted by The Katherine Hepburn Cultural Art Center (The Kate) in Old Saybrook . Murphy wrote Civil Procedure about a boy caught between his parents' desire to pursue a lawsuit against one of their neighbors. The play had originally started as a class project where it went through many drafts before being submitted to The Kate for consideration. It won him a $400 scholarship. There will be a staged reading of his work at the Kate in the Spring.
